FRIBOURG AS SEEN BY…
THE PERFECT PLACE TO RAISE A FAMILY

If it had not been for a new job on another continent, Daniel Ducrey might still be in Fribourg. After three years away, he returned to Switzerland in 2015 to take over the reins at Steiner, the leading general contractor in Switzerland and his employer since 2009. With company headquarters in Zurich, it was with a somewhat heavy heart that the newly-minted CEO had to abandon his original idea of making his home again in the canton of Fribourg. Although Ducrey is enjoying life in Zurich, and loves its architecture, he confesses that his favourite building “is still Fribourg’s Saint Nicholas Cathedral”.
Equally, he is “glad that my children were lucky enough to grow up in a bilingual canton and in a beneficial environment” as regards their education and personal development. The Steiner CEO is also convinced that the level of education offered by the canton “will rise even further when the University of Fribourg launches its Masters in Medicine”.
