FRIBOURG AS SEEN BY…
“The canton of Fribourg is a miniature version of Switzerland”, claims Pierre-Alain Morard, Director of the Fribourg Tourist Board (UFT). “All of the things that are synonymous with Switzerland are here: lakes, towns, mountains, chocolate and cheese.” So, why does a canton with so much to offer need his professional input? “The problem that we in Fribourg have is that we are so accustomed to having it all that we often forget to make the most of our region’s best features!” Yet, this modesty also works to the canton’s advantage. According to Morard, it is part and parcel of one of the most important qualities that his compatriots have: authenticity. “The people of Fribourg are really in touch with their roots, with their traditions, with nature.” They are also very close to one another. “In Fribourg, people, including politicians, are very approachable. Everyone shares the same ambition: pull together to drive the canton forward.” One particular UFT slogan sums it up nicely: “Fribourg: Tradition Unlimited.”.
